After the success of Sergio Leone’s A Fistful of Dollars, the spaghetti western genre exploded with hundreds of western titles that would proliferate throughout the 60s and 70s. Giulio Petroni only directed a handful of films – among them the amazing A Sky Full of Stars for a Roof, starring genre mainstay Giuliano Gemma – but his most essential film is unanimously considered Death Rides a Horse, starring John Phillip Law (Danger: Diabolik) as a young man who seeks the aid of a renowned gunslinger (the legendary Lee Van Cleef) – who has his own score to settle – in getting revenge on the men who killed his family as a child. The classic Ennio Morricone score was re-birthed in Tarantino’s Kill Bill.
